Tunstall to miss Thruxton

Tom Tunstall has been forced to sit out the weekend’s British Supersport event, still recovering from the elbow infection suffered during the Brands Hatch round.

It’s disappointment for the SRG Specialist Risk Group racer Tom Tunstall having been forced to miss this weekend’s Thruxton Round of the BSB championships.

The elbow injury sustained at Snetterton, which became infected and forced him to withdraw at Brands Hatch, before being hospitalised for treatment has now cast its shadow further.

The Yorkshireman battled to be fit and ready for the latest round. However following his latest physio session and fitness test it was clear that he would be unable to race safely and therefore forced to make the difficult but understandable decision to miss this weekend’s event.

Tunstall explained:

“ It’s very frustrating that what appeared to be a small injury has turned out into such an issues and ruled us out of a possible 6 races! One small crash has ended up putting a big hole in our season.

The swelling is all but gone now and movement and strength has progressed well but where my right triceps joins the elbow is painful and weak which is a big issue. The strength and movement to control a bike especially when tucked against the tank is just not there yet.

Of course it’s very disappointing and frustrating but I’ve done everything I could to help speed up and improve recovery.

There’s more races left in the season so we’ll regroup and make a push to enjoy them and get back into the groove as fast as possible."
