Whether you’re manually moving your bike out of the garage or doing 155mph on a track day if you’ve not got a good grip of the bars it can get you into grief!...

If your grips are worn, torn, or moving on the bars then sorting them out could save you some pain, both literally and financially.

Grip Tips -Selecting the right grips:

  • Get the right tool for the job - Fit bar grips that are designed to be used for the application. Road grips for road /race bike. Off road grips for Motocross/Enduro – Simple! Renthal have developed and designed different grips for Road / Race / Motocross / Enduro and Trials The standard grips
  • Choose your grip style wisely to suit your type of riding. Choices include grip compound, grip pattern, and grip size...oh and colour! 🙂
  • If you’re doing big mileages, touring or commuting a firm compound grip might be the way to go.
  • For track day and race use softer compound grips literally give you a better grip and help reduce blisters.
  • If you get a lot of vibrations through the bars, softer compound grips can also help with this sometimes too (or try fitting weighted bar ends).
  • Dual Compound/Dual Layered grips can give the best of both worlds as the outer compound is soft and the inner firm.
  • Renthal’s unique Kevlar grips offer the best solution for grip, endurance and absorption. The Kevlar resin particles adapt to the grip as it’s used giving the comfort of a soft grip and the longevity of a hard grip.
  • Grip diameter can be a personal choice, however if you suffer from “arm pump” larger grips can help ease this.
  • For really muddy applications like motocross and Enduro, a half or full waffle Renthal Motocross grips can help you keep a good grip and control especially in winter.
  • If you get blisters on the inside of your thumb and forefinger try fitting Renthal Donutz – the small neoprene “donut” are easy to fit and will sort that out!

The standard grips fitted to most bikes are pretty cheap, nasty things and can easily be improved with decent aftermarket grips which hardly cost the earth.

Renthal have 40 years experience and 176 world titles to back up their position are leader for handlebars and grips. They are used in MotoGP, won last year’s World Superbike title and this year’s British Superbike and Supersport titles.

Here at MotorcycleRaceParts we’ve used Renthal grips on our Race bikes for over 20 years and also use them on our Motocross, Enduro and Trials bikes. Needless to say we highly recommend them!

Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing our tips on removing and fitting grips on MotorcycleRaceParts.co.uk very soon...
