Geoff Tunstall made the step from a fast road rider to racer with his first taste of track racing back on 6th September, 1965 at Oulton Park.

With an impressive race career spanning 30+ years, Geoff competed with much success on short circuits as well as many achievements on “the roads”, racing at the Manx Grand Prix, and TT as well as European Road Races such as Mettet, and Chimay, plus 24 hour races at Spa Francorchamps and 5 times winner at the Historic GP de Provence.

In the late 70’s/early 80’s Geoff also owned & ran Denby Dale Motorcycles – specialising in competition [off road - trials - road race] machines as well as some road/commuter bikes. This not only gave the family a great understanding of the motorcycle trade but also formed links and relationships that are still strong to this day.

Keen to support the motorcycle sport community Denby Dale Motorcycles backed trials and road racers notably on the televised Kick Start show and also provided the race machines Phil Mellor won the 1979 British 250cc Championship on.

Tom Tunstall started riding bikes when he was 3 ½ years old and having spent much of his childhood in British and European race paddocks, rode trials [collecting junior club titles on the way] until he took the racing baton in 1995.

Having finished runner up in the 96 British Superteen [under 21] Championship, Tom graduated to 125cc British Championship then to 250cc. A consistent top 5  finisher [including rostrums] in Britain he also competed successfully in the European Championship [just missing the podium in Italy] and raced as a wild card at the British Grand Prix.

The next step was onto four strokes with Supersport machinery, again in British Championship with notable [points scoring] wildcards in the World Supersport Championship.

Having raced for established teams like Colin Appleyard Racing and Vitrans the majority of Tom’s career so far has been with the family running its own team with support from various manufacturers and high profile teams like Yamaha Italia [Belgarda] & Ten Kate Racing.

In 2006 Tom Tunstall Racing stepped up to be a permanent entry in the World Supersport Championship again netting yet more World Championship Points.

Recently the team has been back in the UK competing in the British Superbike [Cup] Championship netting 21 rostrums in 2007/8.

This year with World Superbike machinery the team are looking strong for their most successful season yet on the 1000cc machines!
